While attending The King’s Trust’s 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday (5.11,) the 77-year old monarch was greeted a lineup of celebrity guests including Rita Ora, Anne-Marie and Craig David.
When Charles reached Rod Stewart down the welcoming line, the superstar rocker offered his congratulations on the trip, and added a comment that created an awkward moment.
According to a social media video shared by England’s Daily Mail, the 81-year old musician was seen and heard saying “May I say, well done in the Americas.†“You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little rat bag in his place.â€
While observers interpreted Stewart’s comments as a reference to President Donald Trump, those nearby appeared to laugh, though the King did not visibly respond to the remark.
