Hoping to land closer to $350,000,000.00, Anthony Kiedis and the group had been shopping the rights after taking ownership of their recordings in 2025.
In the end, it was the Chilisâ original record label Warner Bros â that released some of the bandâs biggest LPs, including Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californication â that solidified the deal.
The current master recording deal is separate from the Chili Peppersâ earlier 2015 sale to Hipgnosis Songs Fund who purchased the actâs publishing rights for some $150,000,000.00.
Speaking to MOJO magazine, Chiliâs bassist Flea recently confirmed that he and guitarist John Frusciante have been deep in writing sessions, working from the latterâs home studio adding âWeâve been writing and recording at Johnâs place, and the music feels great.â âOnce we start playing, itâs all about finding that magic groove and doing it right.â
