Janet Jackson has made a rare public appearance at the 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Gala.
She was there to celebrate the induction of her 1989 album Rhythm Nation 1814, and took the opportunity to share a plea for peace, unity and positivity.
“It’s beautiful to relive the memories attached to this project that is so, so precious to me,†Jackson said of the album that earned seven nominations and won Best Long Form Music Video at the 32nd Grammys.
Noting the album “still resonates on a deep and profound level,†she added, “It’s an ongoing force that fights bigotry and promotes understanding. As we celebrate tonight, let’s remember that it transcends all borders, nationalities and faiths.
“May the music of Rhythm Nation continue to bring us together in peace. And may that peace allow us to celebrate this precious gift of life that God has given us.â€
When asked why she does not appear as a character, her sister La Toya Jackson told Variety, “I wish everybody was in the movie. She was asked and she kindly declined so you have to respect her wishes.â€
