Nancy Sinatra recently criticized President Donald Trump for using her father's song "My Way" at his inauguration ceremony. In a tweet, she expressed her disapproval of Trump using the song without her permission and stated that her father, Frank Sinatra, would never support Trump's presidency. Nancy's comments shed light on the importance of obtaining permission to use copyrighted material and the potential backlash that can occur when artists feel their work is being used without consent.
Music News: Nancy Sinatra Slams Donald Trump
Nancy Sinatra has publicly condemned President Donald Trump for sharing footage of her father, Frank Sinatra, singing My Way.
Nancy wrote via X on Sunday, âThis is a sacrilege.âÂ
The singer, actor and author then responded to a fan who asked if something could be done about Trumpâs post, saying, âUnfortunately, no. The only people who can do something are the publishers.â
Nancy also reposted a few comments from fans who pointed out that Frank, who died at age 82 in 1998, would not have agreed with Trumpâs actions in office.
â@NancySinatra will confirm again that her father loathed Donald Trump,â one post read, while another user added, âTrump may love Sinatra, but Sinatra did not love Trump.â
The president did not add any context to the post, leading to speculation about his reason for sharing the video.
Frank Sinatraâs iconic version of My Way was released as a single in 1969. It became a memorable hit, peaking at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching number five on the UK Singles Chart.
