Music News: Quincy Jones Estate Sells Music Catalogue

Quincy Jones’ estate has sold a portion of the late producer’s music catalogue to HarbourView Equity Partners.

The company confirmed the acquisition on Thursday (12.03.26), noting that it has taken ownership of selected music and non-music assets for an undisclosed amount.

The deal covers parts of the late studio wizard’s recorded and publishing catalogue, along with rights connected to his involvement in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

HarbourView will also work with the estate on future uses of Quicny’s name, image and likeness.

Rashida Jones, speaking on behalf of the family, said the agreement ensures her father’s work will be managed responsibly. She highlighted his long history of creative innovation and said the estate’s priority is to protect both the catalogue and the values behind it.

“As his children, our responsibility is to protect not only the catalogue, but the spirit and love behind it. HarbourView understands that legacy and has the vision and expertise to help ensure that future generations can feel the full scope of his everlasting impact.”

Quincy died in November 2024 at the age of 91. Over a seven-decade career, he won 28 Grammy Awards and earned seven Oscar nominations. His production credits include Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad, as well as the charity single We Are the World.

HarbourView CEO Sherrese Clarke called Quincy “a once-in-a-century architect of culture” and said the company intends to preserve his influence while expanding opportunities for audiences to engage with his work.

The acquisition adds to HarbourView’s growing list of more than 70 catalogues, which includes rights linked to Kelly Clarkson, T-Pain, George Benson, Luis Fonsi, Christine McVie and Pat Benatar.
