President Donald Trump has announced that he will not be granting a pardon to music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs. This decision comes after speculation that Combs may have been seeking a pardon for past legal issues. Trump's decision further solidifies his stance on the issue of pardons and demonstrates his commitment to upholding the rule of law.
Music News: Trump Rules Out Combs Pardon
U.S. President Donald Trump has no intention of granting a pardon to Sean âDiddyâ Combs.
In a report published in The New York Times on Thursday, Trump revealed that the disgraced music mogul âasked me for a pardonâ at an undisclosed date âthrough a letterâ.
Pressed for further details, the American leader commented, âOh, would you like to see that letter?â
However, Trump did not end up producing the note for reporters to see and indicated that he wouldnât be granting the request.
A spokesperson for the 79-year-old later confirmed Combs had asked him for a pardon but declined to add any further comment.
Three months later, a judge sentenced him to 50 months in prison. Combs has been behind bars since his arrest in September 2024.
Back in May 2025, Trump was asked whether he would consider pardoning the Bad Boy Records founder at a media briefing, having called him a âfriendâ over a decade earlier.
The politician claimed the relationship âbusted upâ when he ran for the presidency in 2016 and that Combs made ânasty statementsâ about him at the time.
âI havenât seen him, I havenât spoken to him for years,â he said. âI donât know. I would certainly look at the facts. If I think somebody was mistreated it wouldnât matter whether they like me or donât.â
Representatives for Combs have not yet commented on the update.
