Brave & Resilient: Billy Joel's Triumphant Return to the Stage After Brain Diagnosis

Renowned musician Billy Joel recently announced his first live performance since revealing his battle with a brain condition. Fans are eagerly anticipating this milestone event, where Joel will showcase his enduring talent and resilience in the face of adversity. This highly anticipated show promises to be a memorable and inspiring experience for all in attendance.

Music News: Billy Joel’s First Show Since Brain Diagnosis

Billy Joel has taken the stage for two songs in Florida.

The performance with a tribute band in Palm Beach County marked his first time singing in front of a crowd since his touring was called off in May due to a brain disorder diagnosis that affects his balance.

Sporting a black cap and winter jacket, Joel got up on stage with the group Turnstiles to sing and play piano on a pair of his major hits, Big Shot and We Didn’t Start the Fire.

He was joined on stage by his wife, Alexis Roderick, and their two young daughters, who improvised a dance routine.

Joel reportedly asked permission to come up to join the group that is named after one of his most popular 1970s albums.

Joel, who walked with the aid of a cane, asked “What are we doing?”

“A Billy Joel song, how about?” suggested the band’s frontman.

“I can give it a try. I know the guy who wrote it,” Joel said with a laugh, as they launched into We Didn’t Start the Fire.

Joel’s May exit from touring last year was tied to a buildup of fluid on his brain, with a diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), for which he shared he would be seeking physical therapy.

He cancelled all his future shows.

In a July interview with Bill Maher, he confirmed that he felt fine apart from having difficulty keeping his balance, something that had become apparent when he had a fall on stage in February 2025.
