Music News: RAYEâs Video Shoot Shuts Down Street
RAYE stunned local Brits when she shut down a whole street in freezing temperatures to shoot her new music video.
The 28-year-old singer-songwriter left residents in Walthamstow, East London, shocked on Tuesday (06.01.26) when they opened their curtains to see her dancing on their road in a red velvet dress, despite Britain being plunged into cold this week.Â
An insider told The Sun newspaperâs Bizarre column: âWhile most people stayed at home because the weather was so cold, Raye was a total trooper and got to work on a big, top-secret new video.
âThe project was shrouded in secrecy and residents on the road had only been told the street was being shut for filming. No one knew who the star was.
âThen Raye came out and she was incredible. It was so cold out there but she was dancing and singing in this velvet dress like a total pro.Â
Raye even stunned the local postman with her performance.Â
The source added: âThere were some people looking through the windows and the postman was stopped in his tracks.
âIt was so exciting for locals to see her performing up close.â
Rayeâs productive start to 2026 comes after her car was stolen last year containing the original songbooks from her 2023 debut album, My 21st Century Blues, and her only copy of notes and ideas for the follow-up record.
However, fortunately, both the motor and her notes and lyrics were returned to her months later.Â
Speaking on The EE Official Big Top 40 in October, she said: âIt was a rollercoaster journey, but what I didnât tell everyone is the police called me maybe two or three months ago, and they were like, âWe found your car.â
âNot only did I get it back, not one thing had been taken out of the car. All my songwriting books were there, untouched.
âEverything ended well. Never give up hope.â
