Award-winning singer and actress Cynthia Erivo had the honor of opening the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. Known for her powerful vocals and captivating performances, Erivo kicked off the parade with a stunning rendition that wowed spectators and viewers alike. Cynthia Erivo was excited to be the opening act for the 2025 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
On a small stage in the street, the Wicked: For Good actress kicked off the annual New York City event on Thursday morning with a performance of the classic song, Feeling Good.
Dressed in a stunning burgundy coat and matching hat with autumn leaves in the background, Cynthia was joined by musician Mark G. Meadows on the piano.
Originally written by composers Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse in 1964, Feeling Good has been covered by various artists, with Nina Simone's version for her 1965 album, I Put a Spell on You, being one of the most well-known.
Following the impressive performance, Cynthia used large gold scissors to cut the official parade ribbon while members of the Radio City Rockettes stood in the background.
Afterwards, Cynthia took to Instagram to share her joy about the experience.
"What an honor to open the parade this year. Thank you for having me @macys @nbc @peacock. Now time to get back home to celebrate with my family and friends! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours," the 38-year-old wrote.
