"It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away.â âWe ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this moment."
When Ethan was just a toddler, his mother who married Browne singer in 1975, died by suicide at the age of 30 in March of 1976.
In his 2021 interview with Route Magazine, Jackson said that after losing this wife, being a dad to Ethan was his âmain focusâ in life, adding âI only had two things that I hoped I could fit together: being a songwriter and a father.â âAnd I looked at it like this, if I have to only be a father, I hope Iâll know it, and just do that.â
in a 2022 interview with Tru Rock RevivalIn, Browne praised his sonâs skills as a father, stating âEthan is a great father. Heâs a great son, a great man.â âI love seeing him with his kids. When I see him in his movies, modelling, with his daughter, and being such a great dad, it makes me very proud. It makes me feel Iâve done something really right in my life.âÂ
Jackson Browne is also dad to son Ryan, 43, with ex-wife Lynne Sweeney.
