Arriving in theaters and on the streaming platforms October 15th, Apple TV+ just released the trailer for the Todd Haynes documentary about The Velvet Underground.
Opening with a unique overview of New York City art, music, film and opportunity that birthed the Velvet Underground, John Cale, the bands Welsh multi-instrumentalist, states that he was “appalled†the first time he arrived in the city ... " This place is filthy!†The trailer touches on the act's avant garde radical sound, lead singer Lou Reeds singular approach to rock and roll, and how this band of outsiders became one of the most influential acts in music history.
The Velvet Underground features interviews with the surviving members of the group (as Reed passed away in 2013 at the age of 71), other essential players, and a treasure trove of previously unreleased performances and classic footage including Andy Warhol who managed the band.
Along with the film comes a massive soundtrack that features classic Velvet Underground tracks and rarities. Curated by Haynes, and supervised by Randall Poster, the sound score will be released October 15th digitally and as a two-CD set.
