Robyn Collaborates With Smile On 'Call My Name': Look + Listen
For their latest release âCall My Name,â Robyn collaborated with Smile (aka Swedish producer Joakim à hlund and Peter Bjorn and Johnâs Björn Yttling) that will appear on the Scandinavian's upcoming album, Phantom Island, out November 19.
As Robyn sings âThis world might seem like a lonely place. But anything you need, call my name/Iâve got two strong hands to keep you safe/Anything you need, call my name." the single comes complete with a retro-pop vibe of drums, guitar licks and piano runs.
In a statement to Pitchfork à hlund (one of Robynâs collaborators on her 2005 self-titled album and 2010âs Body Talk) said âCall My Nameâ had been kicking around for a while, âBut when Robyn sang it, she really lifted it to another level, her vocal is just packed with so much emotion.â
âI love singing âCall My Nameâ and it was a true pleasure to record it and rave around in this beautiful song together with Joakim and Björn,â Robyn added.
In other Robyn-related news, the singerâs âDancing On My Ownâ classic has enjoyed renewed life thanks to the Boston Red Sox who sang the song in their locker room after beating the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to move on to the American League Championship Series. And thanks to the magic of the internet, the video eventually caught Robynâs attention, who tweeted the perfectly succinct âBonkers.â
