Kanye West Has Legally Changed His Name To 'Ye'
Recently confirmed by the Los Angeles Superior Court, the artist formerly known as Kanye West is now officially âYe,â as Judge Michelle Williams signed off on the rapperâs petition for the name change.
Filed on August 24th with no further explanation other than âpersonal reasonsâ for new moniker, the superstar writer/rapper stated:
âI believe âyeâ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So itâs Iâm you, Iâm us, itâs us,â he explained in an interview with radio host Big Boy. âIt went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything.â
Although it was used as a common shortening of his stage name prior to the projectâs release, Ye released an album by the same name in 2018,
With the petition approved, the 44-year-old musician yields a middle or last name.
