The BTS performance started in the UN’s grand Assembly Hall, with Jung Kook delivering the song’s opening lines from the historic main dais as the rest of the group emerged and the band danced into the lobby before ending the performance with a big dance party on New York City's East River.

According to the The Washington Post, the K-Pop sensations have visited the U.N. twice before, this time arriving as the “special presidential envoy for future generations and culture,” as designated by South Korean President Moon Jae-in. During Monday's conference on climate change, poverty, and inequality Monday (9.20) BTS delivered a speech that included remarks and anecdotes from young people around the world who responded to the the Korean act's social media question: “What were the past two years like for you, and what’s your world like today?”

“I’ve heard that people in their teens and twenties today are being referred to as Covid’s lost generation,” stated BTS’ RM. “I think it’s a stretch to say they’re lost, just because the path they tread can’t be seen by grown-up eyes.”
